What to expect
Typically the appointment will last 1 hour and consist of two parts. First, your AWA professional mold inspector will go through your home looking for common areas where mold is the most likely to grow. If there are visual signs of mold growing in your home, the inspector will take a physical sample to take back to our lab for testing in order to know the exact type of mold which will tell us how to best handle the situation. After the visual inspection for mold, your inspector will take what’s called an air quality test. This is a test that collects air particles that contain mold spores. After the air quality test is completed it will be taken back to the lab and analyzed in order to know if there is any need for mold remediation.
Why do you need a professional test?
There are many reasons for a professional test. One of the biggest issues of DIY mold testing kits is that samples can easily be mishandled and cause false positivity tests. This would end up costing you a large sum of money to get mold remediation when it wasn’t necessary. Another very important reason is that the equipment needs a much higher sensitivity level than the DIY kits that you can buy over the counter. Our professional equipment is able to collect and analyze much smaller samplings of mold spores in the air due to the sensitivity levels than you’re able to do with any kits that you’re able to purchase in-store or online. You also want to do this as quickly as possible if you feel there is any possibility for mold otherwise the mold can continue growing and become a very expensive problem later on.
